Who are Comic-Centric

Comic-Centric is the sales division of The Comic Clinic Ltd, a UK business with over a decade of experience working with comic collectors, dealers and even comic artists, on many of the biggest comic books in Europe. We have recently shifted focus from professional comic book pressing, to the buying and selling of comic books in the UK.

Although we may still press an occasional comic for people we know, or run one-off promo/competitions, we currently have no plans to offer the pressing service again to the general public for the foreseeable future.

Can I pay by instalments?

Yes, we can sometimes offer a comic book payment plan - please contact us by email or direct message to discuss.

To secure an item and lock in the price, we require a 10% non-refundable, non-transferable deposit. Once everything has been agreed and deposit has been paid, we would remove the item(s) from all sales platforms and safely store the item(s) until full payment is made.

Do you have a shop?

No, Comic-Centric doesn't operate a bricks-and-mortar shop. However, we regularly attend UK comic book fairs and marts.

If you've seen a comic in our listings and would like to view it in person at an event, just let us know - we're always happy to bring specific items for viewing without obligation to purchase.

Do you ship internationally?

At this time, we only ship within the UK.

International shipping presents a number of issues, such as unexpected import taxes, customs delays and unreliable tracking or insurance. For now we're focussed on offering the most reliable service to UK buyers.

Why was my order cancelled?

There are a couple of reasons we may cancel an order:

  • The comic book may have an issue. In that case we would email you with an explanation and do what we can to make up for any disappointment - be sure to check your junk mail folder.
  • If there are concerns related to fraudulent activity, known drop shippers or should otherwise be on the naughty step, we reserve the right to cancel an order without notification as outlined in our terms and conditions.

Why did you stop pressing?

Prior to the pandemic, we were comfortably busy. When Covid hit, demand skyrocketed. Working around the clock, seven days a week for three years, simply led to burnout. Then I (JG) experienced a few health issues that dragged on for too long and put a number of things into perspective. Now I am focussed on building a family-run comic business that could grow sustainably.

Can you recommend a comic presser?

We hold extremely high standards and believe a true professional should:

  • Be professionally trained
  • Carry full business insurance (incl. accidental damage cover)

In our experience, we have seen too many comics suffer from poor cleaning and pressing techniques that gave disappointing results, left money on the table and on occasion left permanent damage. Because of these reasons, we cannot offer a professional recommendation.

That said there is an argument that any improvement is better than none, and many collectors appear happy with a number of pressers. So you may want to ask another trusted collector who he/she/they use.

If you're submitting comics for CGC or CBCS grading, it is worth considering using the grading company's own pressing service. Just take detailed photos beforehand for peace of mind. They are both usually pretty good at resolving issues relating to loss or damage, as long as you have photographic evidence of original condition.
